Updates from our first week of waiting in Santiago

Eomer had his surgery today!  We saw his veterinarian in Santiago on Saturday and after his last chemotherapy treatment, he was so pleased with how much his tumor had shrunk, he recommended surgery right away! And as a "special bonus" we took advantage of Eomer being under anesthesia to also remove a lentil-sized fatty growth on his leg. But I guess they weren't taking any chances with the other growth - look at the size of that scar on his leg!

My poor baby is still pretty high from all his drugs right now, but he ate a good dinner and is resting in his bloody cone head. We expect another messy, bloody day tomorrow, but then in another 48 hours, Eomer should be back to his old self. But here's the best part: his tumor shrunk down so well they didn't even have to give him a cleft lip to remove it!  I'm anxious to get a good look inside his lip to see exactly what the surgeon did, but his face wasn't cut at all from the outside - his lip just pulls up a bit now. We'll see after all the swelling goes down how permanent that is, but we were so pleasantly surprised by the outcome!

As far Chaka, the little guy thinks he's being pretty funny these days! After being on bed rest for almost 3 months for risk of premature labor, now that I'm full term, Camilo is showing no signs of coming anytime soon! Today we went in for some fetal monitoring to make sure his heart rate looks good with his movements and my contractions and everything looks completely normal. Next week we'll get another ultrasound to check on how big his head is getting and maybe start talking about a potential induction. In the meantime, we're just enjoying ourselves and trying not to be too excited about every contraction, every backache, and every kick that sends me doubled over in pain. Oh, and I'm huge. And I've entered the "retaining water phase" BIG TIME!
