Ok first, we call the baby Chaka. We have from the beginning. Why Chaka? Remember Land of the Lost? No? Well don't worry about it. All you need to know is that we call the baby Chaka. So here was Chaka's first photo at 8weeks...
So if you squint, the dotted line is where the u/s technician measured Chaka from crown to rump. The big blob on the left was the head, and the oval on the right is the rest of the body with little leg and arm buds just starting to grow. Up behind the head is the yolk sac, getting smaller and smaller. This was the first time we saw Chaka, and even the though the photo is just sort of blobby and not very baby-like, this was when we heard the heartbeat and it was AMAZING! Also we did this on Valentines day. Pretty cool, right?
But then we went back a month later and things got even better...
Chaka got big! And Chaka looks like a baby! Joan kept repeating over and over again, "se ve como una personita!" Translation: "it looks like a little person!" And he was so right! So in this picture, I don't have to point out the head, but you can also see both the right and left hands and all the little fingers on that left hand. Best yet, Chaka had a nasal bone and a skinny neck, meaning the chances of Chaka having one of the more common genetic problems like Down syndrome are slim to none! And for me, the best part was seeing Chaka move- and move the baby did! Chaka squirmed, bucked, danced, flipped around, waved at us, kicked at me so vigorously, the u/s tech couldn't get a good reading on the heart rate. I still can't feel any movements from the inside yet, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that any day it'll happen.
Sadly, no more ultrasounds for another 6 weeks, but that's when we'll get a full anatomy scan AND find out whether Chaka is a boy or a girl. I can't wait!!!!!!!!!

oh.my.god. Look at your baby!!! Look what you guys made!!! That image just totally freaked me out, in a good way. All sarcasm was drained from my body and I was refilled with awe. I assume this is temporary.
